Tournament Recap: Twisted Shamrock 07/21

As Lastcupstanding.com’s Summer Pong at the Twisted Shamrock reaches the end of its second month we see a lot of firsts.  This week Jeff ‘The Punter’ Cooper managed to be the first person to win the Last Cup Standing Showdown two weeks straight.

We also had a lot of heated competition in our doubles tournament.  For the first time we had a female team make it to the finals. Proving that a good female Beer Pong Player is not a myth or an oxymoron.  Pam Clemens and Marlow Caputo of Team ACLD (Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities) destroyed a lot of fierce competition to make it to the finals against Team Punterelli.  Team Punterelli is comprised of Jeff ‘The Punter’ Cooper and Charlie ‘All or Nothing’ Pasquarello.  Charlie has won the singles tournament the last two weeks.  They were determined to take the money and not to lose to women.  It was this determination that won in the end as they took the prize and the glory.

A lot of firsts this week indeed.  First person to win both the Showdown and the Tournament.  First person to win three weeks in a row.  Afterward Charlie told me that next week would be his last and he dared any out there to prevent him from making his four-peat.

Tournament Recap: Twisted Shamrock 07/14

Competition was fierce at the Last Cup Standing Showdown this week as four people managed to hit the cup on their second shot.  The four squared off for several rounds before Jeff ‘The Punter’ Cooper managed to sink the cup a second time and win the prize.

This week there was a twelve person singles competition for the main event.  There were some blowouts, and close matches, even one overtime to make it to the finals.  It was Kevin ‘Blue’ Sciandra and Charlie Pasquarello.  Both Players have racked up previous wins in Twisted Shamrock Summer Pong Tournaments.  The match was very faced paced as competitors started hitting cups right away.  Winning for a second week in a row and taking a nickname with the money was Charlie ‘All or Nothing’ Pasquarello.  The guy who will either go down in the first round or win the whole tournament.  Will Charlie be the first player to have a winning streak here at the Twisted Shamrock?  We will find out next week.

To join in the Beer Pong glory come to the Twisted Shamrock Monday nights.  The Twisted Shamrock is located next to the train station in Babylon.

Beer Pong Civil War

Tournament Recap: Twisted Shamrock 07/07

This week at the Twisted Shamrock the Last Cup Standing Showdown was intense.  For the first time since it started no one hit the cup in the first round.  But three people managed to sink the cup in the second round.  The three moved on and quickly became two as Tom and Kevin sank again.  The final two battled back and forth, but in the end it was bartender Tom who won the showdown.

Eleven people played in the singles tournament this week.  Many of the matches were close as players battled down to the last cups.  In the end it was Brian ‘Baby’ Plumacher against Charlie Pasquarello.  In previous tournaments Baby has not managed to advance very far, but this week he seemed to have found the beer to accuracy ratio.  Charlie is most noted for winning the first Last Cup Standing Showdown and managing to get knocked out first round of every tournament.  Their match was epic as both players went back and forth. As the last cup was sank it was Charlie Pasquarello who was the victor, proving that for him its all or nothing.

Picking Your Poison

In today’s article we will discuss one of the most important parts of Beer Pong.  The BEER!!!  Although not essential, because we can all enjoy the occasional liquor or soda/pop pong, it is still an aspect that can make or break the night.
Can any beer be used in Beer Pong?  Technically yes, but some beers work better than others.  Your favorite beer may be great on any normal night, but may not cut it on a Beer Pong night.

House Rules: Skill Shot

The Skill Shot, also known as Players Cup or Island Cup, is a commonly seen rule added by Beer Pong players all over the country.  It is designed to reward players who can shoot accurately.  When I go to house games it is almost always mentioned in the rules.  Most often in the sense of whether it is or is not in effect.  So today we dedicate this article to the Skill Shot.  Read More »

Tournament Recap: Twisted Shamrock 06/30

The Tournaments at the Twisted are growing bigger each week.  The convenience of a bar next to a train station is hard to beat.  This week in the Last Cup Standing Showdown, Joe Kroll beat out the others with a spectacular first shot hit.  He won enough to cover his tournament entry and then some.
Twenty-two people competed in the tournament this week in eleven teams.  “Team Punt” composed of winners of the last two weeks showdowns proved that just because you can hit a last cup doesn’t mean you can make it out of the first round.  “Team Shenanigans” lived up to their name as they managed to spill half a pitcher all over the table.  There were some close matches in the Semifinals as Dave and James played some good defense mirroring cup for cup “Team Do Work!” all the way up to the last cup.  “In Diana Jones” and “Romy and Gary” also had a crazy match, there were some great shots and spectacular misses that went deep into overtime.  In the end it was “Do Work!” versus “In Diana Jones” for the prize and in a show of determination it was “Do Work!” composed of players Tim Bott and Kevin Sciandra.  Both players have proved themselves in the singles competitions and now show they can play well with others too.

Tournament Recap: Twisted Shamrock 06/16

June 16th at the Twisted Shamrock in Babylon LastCupStanding.com held its third Summer Pong Tourney.  Eleven players competed for Beer Pong glory and more importantly first place price.  It looked at first as if last weeks winner Jim Chinese was trying to cash in for  two weeks straight. It was a pretty fierce competition with some spectacular upsets.  It came down to  Jeff  Cooper beating out Joe Kroll and Jim loosing in a close match to Tim Bott.  For a third consecutive week, we find Jeff Cooper in the final round and there were many who wondered if this would be his week.  Tim had been convinced he would lose before his first match.  What made matters worse for Tim was that he wasn’t even aware that there was a prize until after his second win and the pressure was on.  Yet upset was the word of the day at the Twisted Shamrock as newcomer Tim Bott takes the prize and leaves Jeff to win only a nickname.  Jeff “The Punter” Cooper.
