Beer Pong Civil War

Civil War Beer Pong takes the fun of Beer Pong and mixes it with the chaos of pre-nuclear war.  Why so chaotic?  Did I mention it’s a six player version of Beer Pong?

What you Need

1 table
2 water cups
18 cups (9 per side)
3 ping pong balls
6 people

The Set up

The nine cups are arranged into three separate three cup triangles on each side.  They should be spaced so that a player may stand behind each one.  Keep the sides of the table clear because they will be needed later.

Game Play

One team always starts with two balls and the other just one.  Normally the winning team gets two but for the first match any way of determining it is fine.  Unlike most forms of Beer Pong,  Civil War Beer Pong is not turn based.  Any player may shoot at anytime.  This adds to the chaos of the game play.  Another factor is the ability to re-shoot a ball if you can get it first. It is not really in your interest to go past the mid table in search of a loose ball because it will leave your side undefended.  Some people do restrict players from passing the mid table but it is not necessary.  I have heard of fights breaking out by over eager players so please be careful.

Once all three of a players cups have been sunk they are no longer able to shoot a ball for their team.  However, they are not out of the game yet.  They may stand on either side of the table and help field loose balls for their team.  Each team may have one player on each side so make sure the table isn’t up against any walls.  The first team to sink all of the opponents cups is the winner.  If you so choose you may let the remaining players on the opponents side shoot rebuttals for a chance at overtime.  Make you own determination on what overtime means for you.  Some options are one cup for all six players or each side chooses a shooter and the shooters each have a three cup triangle.  The other two players continue to act as fielders.

Final Words

Just because a side has lost a player or two don’t despair yet.  If one player is left on a side they get to shoot three balls so they can either keep shooting as they come or shoot three in a row.  Multi-shots from a single player can be a dangerous weapon because it allows them to readjust between shots.

This version of Beer pong is one of the few six player versions I have seen, making it very unique to the world of Beer Pong.  Give it a try, let the chaos begin, and let us know what you think.
