In today’s article we will discuss one of the most important parts of Beer Pong. The BEER!!! Although not essential, because we can all enjoy the occasional liquor or soda/pop pong, it is still an aspect that can make or break the night.
Can any beer be used in Beer Pong? Technically yes, but some beers work better than others. Your favorite beer may be great on any normal night, but may not cut it on a Beer Pong night.
Firstly, it may not be wise to use heavy beers like Guinness Stout, King Fisher, Sam Adams or the like if you intend on playing several games. They can be pretty filling, and more enjoyable when sipped instead of chugged. I find that the only easy way to chug a Guinness is when its turned into an Irish Car Bomb. Hmm, this might make for an interesting game of pong. However, it would probably need to be three cups per side and that is definitely a play at your own risk kind of game.
Next, we have other very enjoyable beers like Killian’s, Corona, Red Stripe, Heineken and many others which are possible to play with, but also can be very tough for inexperienced drinkers to chug.
You should always be prepared for the worst case, and make it the best. If your opponent is hitting cups like crazy, you don’t want to be chugging your most expensive or heaviest beer.
All of these previous beers are great and a good addition to any night, but I mostly use them for my side beer. Something to enjoy as I heckle my opponent as he repeatedly fails to hit a cup. For the best Beer Pong Beer, I generally have to look to the lager, especially the lighter American style lagers. Budweiser, Coors, Miller, Milwaukee’s Best, Natural Ice, Busch, Keystone, Pabst Blue Ribbon and many many more are my Beer Pong Beers of choice. They are not all created equal, and there are many different aspects to take into account like budget and preference. I once got a free T-shirt with a purchase of a thirty pack of Keystone Light. I no longer know where the shirt is now, but it was a good night of Beer Pong.
My personal Beer Pong beer of choice is Bud Light. I prefer the taste to the other alternatives, although I wouldn’t turn any of them down. I am also a believer in drinking a light beer when you know you will be having many drinks in the night because every little bit counts. For the record, although it would be great, Budweiser is not sponsoring this article or me in any shape or form, except for my beer belly. At least not yet.
When it comes down to it, use what you like, have the most fun you can and keep playing. Leave us a comment and let us know what your favorite Beer Pong Beer is.
